3 men rescued from capsized boat off South Carolina

Three men were rescued by the US Coast Guard after being spotted clinging to the hull of their capsized boat off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, Thursday.
A good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard watchstanders just before 7:30 a.m. to report an overturned 23-foot boat with three men on it, the Coast Guard said.
A search and rescue crew from Station Charleston sped to the scene and pulled the unlucky seafarers from the water.
The soggy survivors were then taken to emergency medical services at the local Coast Guard station but did not report any injuries.
The identities of the rescued men have not been released as of Friday.
“This is a prime example of how quickly things can go wrong in a matter of seconds,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Harry Seibert. “It is important mariners check their vessel for all the necessary safety equipment onboard and monitor weather conditions prior to getting on the water.”
It was not immediately known what caused the boat to capsize.
The vessel’s owner was coordinating with a commercial salvage company to recover the sunken boat.
