EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Congressman Derrick Van Orden was in Eau Claire today, speaking with Veterans at VFW Post 305.
Van Orden shared a variety of challenges Veterans are facing, including the rise in suicide rates and homelessness among those who served our country.
He claimed the Veterans Administration in Washington D.C. is inefficient.
Van Orden also spoke about the HSHS and Prevea closures, saying he called upon Governor Evers to help.
“We are fully engaged with everybody we can possibly think of to try to help solve this problem, because we’re talking about 40% of the health care essentially disappeared overnight. I will talk to anybody. I will work with anybody. I don’t care what political party you are affiliated with. I don’t care what your position is. If you can potentially help us solve this health care problem, we will be speaking to you.”
HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital is expected to close on or before April 21st. St. Josephs Hospitals is expected to close by March 22.
