Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has postponed a trip to Saudi Arabia scheduled for this week, according to The Associated Press.
Zelensky said the fact that officials from his country were not invited to U.S.-Russia talks in the kingdom on negotiating an end to the war was the reason for his decision. He said his visit to was rescheduled for March 10.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the U.S. and Russia had agreed Tuesday to restore embassy staffing, establish a high-level team to negotiate peace in Ukraine and enhance economic cooperation, marking a dramatic shift in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump.
Rubio noted that actions in recent years had diminished the operational capacity of both countries’ diplomatic missions, signaling a thaw in relations between the two countries after years of tension in the wake of Moscow’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

No Ukrainian officials were present at the meeting, which took place as Ukraine continues to struggle against a numerically superior Russian force.
On Monday Zelensky made it clear that Kyiv would not recognize any agreements reached without its involvement.
