Hyundai Motor Q3 profit slumps as US tariffs weigh

SEOUL, Oct 30 (Reuters) – Hyundai Motor (005380.KS), opens new tab posted a 29% decline in third-quarter operating profit on Thursday as the automaker was hurt by U.S. tariffs.
Hyundai, which together with affiliate Kia (000270.KS), opens new tab is the world’s third-biggest automaking group by sales, booked an operating profit of 2.5 trillion won ($1.76 billion) for the July-September period, compared with 3.6 trillion won in the same period a year earlier.

The result compared with a 2.5 trillion won LSEG SmartEstimate, which is weighted towards analysts who are more consistently accurate.
