India won the second Test match by three wickets on day 4 to complete a clean sweep over Bangladesh in Dhaka. However, the win did not come easy and Indian skipper KL Rahul acknowledged the same in his post-match interaction with Sanjay Manjrekar in the post-match presentation.
Chasing 145 to win, India were struggling at 74/7 inside the first hour on day 4. India resumed their innings on 45/4 with Axar Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. The nightwatchman was the first Indian wicket to fall as he was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan. Mehidy Hasan then struck twice in quick succession dismissing Axar for 34 and Pant for 1.

“We never thought it’d be a cakewalk, thought we need to grind and work hard for runs which Bangladesh did.It was a tough wicket to bat on, they put us under pressure in both innings. It was tougher with the new ball. We lost more wickets than we’d have liked. We’ve made mistakes but will look to learn and hopefully put a better performance if a similar situation arises in the future” said Rahul when asked about India’s precarious position early morning on day 4.

“You just trust the guys in the middle. There’s always belief but there were nerves, we are human. But we trusted the batters out. Today, Ashwin and Shreyas did it with ease and style. Well done to them to earn India the win” Rahul said.
The Indian skipper also praised the Indian bowling attack as he ended his interaction. He mentioned the bowling depth in the current Indian Test squad and said that all of them put their hand up when the team needed them.
Happy With Our Bowling Depth-KL Rahul
“Happy with our bowling depth in the last 6-7 years. The series wins say a lot about how well we’ve groomed our pace attack. Ashwin and Axar have also done really well. Umesh put his hands up, Jaydev came in after a long time but bowled phenomenally well and probably deserved more wickets than he got. But the pressure helped Ashwin and Axar capitalize” Rahul concluded saying.
With this win, India have consolidated their second position on the WTC points table with 99 points from 14 Test matches with a percentage point of 58.93.
