Airlines Are Banning TikTok On Employee Devices

Another US airline has implemented restrictions on the video-sharing app TikTok for employees. Delta Air Lines has become the latest carrier to implement a ban on the app on phones connected to its work network.
The move comes following a recent US Government ban prohibiting the presence or use of the application on information technology networks, including specific equipment used by Federal contractors.
What devices are affected?
The airline is said to be disallowing the use of TikTok on any personal device used to access Delta Air Lines’ internal network systems from the end of the day on Friday. This could be extended to include accessing apps and email used for work, Delta’s internal intranet, or flight booking systems.

If the ban encompasses using devices to check email and book on Delta services via a web browser, it could effectively outlaw using TikTok on employees’ personal devices if used for that purpose. The airline itself has an official TikTok account that currently has over half a million followers. The last post made by the page was on June 18th.
Second to Southwest
This echoes an earlier move by fellow US carrier Southwest Airlines to ban the application on its network for the same reason. Much like Delta, Southwest maintains contracts with various government agencies and is responsible for carrying federal employees on official travel.
