Electric cars will increasingly conquer the future of mobility. From Stellantis come words that know of a very near revolution.
The automotive world is changing, and we will have to get used more and more to the big news that await us in the near future. We have already talked about the new incentives that will push many to purchase an electric or plug-in car, with various concessions that will also cover condominium expenses for those who want to buy charging stations.
In short, there is a great air of change, with governments wanting to intervene on various fronts to stop the climate crisis, even if, obviously, one cannot think of electrifying the entire automotive sector in a short time. Electric cars are dominating the future plans of the big car manufacturers, which are reconverting all their production by abandoning the heat engine.
Just to give an example, Bugatti has already announced that from now on we will only see full electric supercars, while Lamborghini will switch to hybridwaiting to see the first electric car from the Sant’Agata Bolognese house by 2028. At home Ferrari there is still no constant talk of this technology, but the hybrid has already been part of the Cavallino range for some time.
L’Audi and the Mercedes they are already churning out full electric cars, but it is clear that it is not easy for citizens to think of being able to buy one. At the moment, in Italy, under 20 thousand euros it is not possible to find electric cars, and this is a problem that would like to solve the Fiat with the arrival of the new Panda in 2023.
The Turin-based company, being part of the Stellantis group, will have to electrify its entire range by 2027, as will Alfa Romeo and all the other members of this great group. Europe has decided that endothermic cars will be banned, in terms of production, starting in 2035, with a small derogation for supercars, which will have five more years to do so.
However, given the large study behind the electric in recent years, there is a serious possibility that the thermal “will go out of fashion” even a few years in advance, with all due respect to enthusiasts who do not want to hear about ecological transition combined with the world of four wheels.
In a little while, we will bring you some words that make you reflect on the future of the automotive industry, which is facing the most epochal change in its history, destined to produce a revolution that could not be foreseen until a few decades ago. Here is what will happen in the next few years and the reactions that could be there.
Auto, Stellantis communicates the date of the end of the thermal
Stellantis is one of those groups that has invested the most in the car of tomorrow, sending the thermal engine into early retirement. Davide MeleSenior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for the Italian part of the Dutch multinational holding, stated that Stellantis wants to be a sort of pioneer in the transition to electric, anticipating the times by several years compared to what has been decided by Europe.
Here are his words: “The Stellantis group has opted for a plan that focuses entirely on the electric motor and wants to occupy the role of the leader. The goal is to anticipate the times and switch to full electric from 2035 to 2030, by about five years. He wants to face this challenge and come out as the winner, building a car that is clean, safe, connected and accessible to everyone. The costs of such a technological revolution are high, 50% more for the same segment. Obviously, it is not an easy thing, and for this there will be some big investments to be made“.
Apples added: “We have focused on the transition, but we must not forget that there is legislation on euro 7 which obliges companies to invest again in the thermal engine, but in 2035 it will be brought to its disappearance. So, if we look at our studies and investments and where we are going, we can say that the thermal will die as early as 2027. Precisely for this reason, we call for a serious revision of the euro 7 for the next few years.“.
Without too many doubts, Stellantis has decided that the electric will replace the thermal in a few years, and for this reason it has staked everything on it, sacrificing even the latest studies on traditional engines. One of the objectives, for example in Italy of the new executive, is to be able to try to focus on eco-sustainable fuels, but from this point of view there does not seem to be too much support from Europe.

It seems that it has already been decided that the electric is the thing to focus on, no ifs and buts. However, it is clear that it will not be easy to reconvert all the infrastructures and make them ready for a change of this level, which sooner or later, whatever happens, will become a reality in all respects.
