Cowboys Latest Trevon Diggs Mystery Concussion News

As the circumstances of a concussion suffered by Dallas Cowboys two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs remain surrounded by questions, it appears that whatever caused the injury, it now stands a good chance of keeping the 2020 second-round draft pick on the sidelines for a second straight game.
That was the update from Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, as conveyed by longtime Cowboys insider and former ESPN reporter Ed Werber on Thursday morning.
“Eberflus says CB Trevon Diggs remains in concussion protocol and his availability to play diminishes the longer team goes through prep week without him,” Werber wrote on his social media accounts.
Eberflus had no new information to pass on regarding how, exactly, Diggs became concussed in the first place. It should also be noted that the defensive coordinator did not rule out the possibility that Diggs could play against the Broncos, saying only that the longer he sat out of practice, the less chance there was that he would be available Sunday.
Diggs Played All Six of Cowboys’ First Games
Diggs missed practice again on Thursday, according to the Cowboys’ injury report, after also being forced to sit out on Wednesday. The 2021 first-team All-Pro defender played in all of the Cowboys’ first six games, but then suffered the still unexplained concussion and was sent home from practice last Friday prior to the Cowboys’ Week Seven game against the Washington Commanders.
Playing at home, the Cowboys defense held Washington to 22 points while the offense doubled that total — with some help from a pick-six interception by cornerback DaRon Bland — to finish with a 44-22 victory in Diggs absence.
On Tuesday, Cowboys owner and de facto general manager Jerry Jones said that he felt no further need to “dwell on” Diggs’ concussion situation, and that, “I feel better about being able to play if we don’t have him out there.”
‘Accident’ Occurred at Home
Those words could not have been too comforting for Diggs as he continues to battle the mysterious head injury and faces the possibility of being unable to play in Sunday’s nationally televised clash with the Denver Broncos on the road.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer has said only that Diggs’ concussion was the result of an “accident” that happened sometime last Thursday evening, October 16, in Diggs’ home.
According to the site Realtor.com, Diggs owns a $4.4 million, six-bedroom, eight-bath mansion in Frisco, Texas, located just “minutes” from The Star — the multibillion practice facility and high-end shopping center the serves as Cowboys “World Headquarters.”
Concussion Typically Takes 2 Weeks to a Month
Diggs has been attempting to sell the 9,787 square-foot palatial estate since July, though the reasons why he apparently wants to move are not something he has spoken about publicly. The listing for Diggs mansion describes it as ” the pinnacle of Frisco luxury. A true modern masterpiece designed for comfort, wellness, and unforgettable living,” as quoted by Realtor.com.
