Dan Lanning, Oregon Receive Exciting News on Friday

Dan Lanning and the No. 6 Oregon Ducks are 6-1 so far in the 2025 season. Their only loss has come to the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 7.
Since taking over as Oregon’s head coach in 2022, Lanning has gone 41-7 and 2-1 in bowl games. They’re now chasing a national championship and a second straight Big Ten title.
Much of the team’s success under the 39-year-old head coach is tied to recruiting. Lanning’s efforts never stop, even in the middle of the season.
The Ducks have kept their eyes on several players, including class of 2026 linebacker Braylon Hodge.
Hodge committed to the Michigan State Spartans on June 1, but backed out on Oct. 10, opening his recruitment. He had offers from Texas, Colorado, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri, making him highly sought after.
On Friday, though, Hodge made a decision, committing to Oregon, as reported by Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
“BREAKING: Four-Star LB Braylon Hodge has Committed to Oregon, he tells me for @rivals The 6’3 210 LB from Englewood, CO was previously Committed to Michigan State,” Fawcett wrote.
Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a four-star recruit, the No. 17 linebacker and the No. 288 player in the nation. He took an official visit with the Ducks on Oct. 11, watching them lose to Indiana.
“The environment was crazy,” Hodge said according to Rivals’ Max Torres. “It was probably the loudest game I’ve been to. The fans were going crazy. It was honestly really cool to see.”
Hodge adds to Oregon’s 2026 cycle, which boasts 18 commitments, ranking No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 3 in the nation. He’s one of two linebackers, joining four-star Tristan Phillips.
