Tacopina did it. He convinced Daniele De Rossi to start his coaching career at the helm of Spal, finding an agreement until June 30, 2024. The president of the Ferrara-based company positively closed a chase he had started during the summer, when the former champion of the world had declined the invitation, with the hope of finding a bench in Serie A. Even in these days De Rossi, who had returned to be part of Mancini’s staff, after leaving it in the aftermath of the triumph at Wembley and a period in which he had been waiting for a call from some top league club, he wanted to reflect on the pressures coming from Ferrara. Joe Tacopina has worked on several fronts. He touched the sentimental key, thanks to the friendship born with the former captain of Roma, always cultivated, when the Italian-American lawyer, between 2011 and 2014, had taken on the position of vice president of the Giallorossi company. At the same time he put on the plate the ambitious programs that he has presented since the first days of his inauguration in Ferrara, or the return to Serie A in a short time. In De Rossi, albeit at the first impact as a coach, there is no lack of personality and charisma to lead a group from the sidelines and inside the locker room.
