American Airlines announced earlier this week that it would introduce a new route to Mexico starting next year’s first quarter.
The flights will be operated by Envoy Air under the American Eagle regional brand using the Embraer E170. Bookings will open on Monday.
Dallas to Tampico
According to WFAA, American Airlines will start flying directly to Tampico International Airport (TAM), Mexico, from its main hub in Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on March 5, 2025. Tickets for the flight will be available starting September 16th this year.

According to FlightAware, Viva Aerobus, American, United Airlines, and Mesa Airlines have flights from DFW to TAM. However, none of these flights are direct; they all have a stopover. The US carriers transit through Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and Viva Aerobus stops at Monterrey International Airport (MTY).
Jim Moses, American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of DFW Operations, said in a statement:
“We’re excited to continue expanding our network of more than 230 worldwide destinations we serve directly from DFW. American is proud to operate as the largest U.S. airline in Mexico and to give our customers this direct access to family, business, and leisure destinations across the country.”
Tampico will become American’s 29th destination in Mexico, making it the US carrier with the most flights and destinations. According to the carrier, the destination will add more flights to the existing “815 weekly flights to the country next year.”
The E170 regional jet carries up to 65 passengers.
