Galaxy S23 phones appear in first official images

Leaks over the past few months have revealed plenty about Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series. We already know the key specs of the devices and have also seen them in CAD renders and dummy units, which have revealed a largely unchanged design from the Galaxy S22. Now, as the launch draws closer, we have our first official look at the upcoming Galaxy flagships. Leaked images of official promotional materials have confirmed the design of the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The promotional materials show the Galaxy S23+ in a pink hue and the Ultra model in green. A recent leak revealed that these will be the signature colors of the two phones, respectively. So things are lining up nicely. The leak claimed a light gold/pink gold signature color for the vanilla Galaxy S23. So, it should look identical to the Plus model. Barring for the size, of course. Note that signature color is nothing but the color variant that Samsung shows in its press materials and promos. The phones will come in a host of other colorways too.
The Galaxy S23 lineup will have an identical camera array
The latest leak confirms what we have been hearing and seeing about the Galaxy S23’s design. The Ultra model looks like a copy of the current Ultra with an unchanged shape, size, and camera layout. The Galaxy S23+ is also identical to its predecessor from the front. But, on the back, we no longer have the contour-cut camera island. All camera sensors protrude out of the back panel individually with no separate housing. The same is true for the vanilla Galaxy S23 as well. It will also have its cameras peeking out on the back. Samsung is getting rid of the camera bump entirely.

This redesign from Samsung makes things simple and consistent across the Galaxy S23 lineup. However, the design that the company has opted for lacks character and identity. It’s not a bad design. But we see it on entry-level Galaxy smartphones as well. The Korean behemoth could have kept the contour-cut camera design and developed it into an identity of the Galaxy S series. It’s unclear why it chose to kill the flagship identity. But here we are. Samsung is now almost ready with a minorly-redesigned Galaxy S23 series of flagship smartphones.
According to leaks, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S23 trio on February 1, 2023. The phones could go on sale in the third week of the month. We will let you know as soon as we have more information regarding the market release of the new Galaxy flagships.
