The actress is excited to return as the SHIELD agent in the new Marvel series expected for spring 2023 on Disney +: here are some sneak peeks.
By now the MCU series on Disney+ they come one after the other. We don’t even have time to dwell on an exit before attention is immediately shifted to the next one. But if there’s a more awaited title than the others arriving in the next few months, that’s for sure Secret Invasion. With Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn that of the shape-shifter Talos and an all-star cast that includes among others Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarkethe curiosity towards this series is already skyrocketing. Secret Invasion will come streaming in spring of 2023 but Cobie Smulderswho will reprise his role as an agent of SHIELD for the occasion Mary Hill, is already enthusiastic about it. Talking to the press to promote another project, the series high school of Freevee/Amazon, the actress has not hidden that she is particularly proud of Secret Invasion and promised that the series will also show us a new side of Maria Hill.
Secret Invasion: Why it will be different from other Marvel projects according to Cobie Smulders
Secret Invasionwhich will be the second project to usher in Phase 5 of the MCU after the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania, is based on the 2008 crossover comic of the same name and tells a story revolving around a cult of Skrulls and how they have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. According to Smulders, the series will show us sides of the already known characters that we hadn’t known before. “It has a very different tone to anything seen in the MCU in the past. I mean, have Sam [Jackson] in anything it’s already something exciting to watch, but I think the series paints her character in a really interesting way, as I always wanted to see,” said the actress.
What Maria Hill will we see in the series?
Speaking of her character, Maria Hill’s interpreter said that this series won’t show so much the facts of Agent Hill’s life, or at least no more than we had already seen in Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Far from Homehowever it will dig deeper showing us different background. “That’s the beauty of these shows that Marvel is doing: you really get to know the backstories of these characters. What conversations do they have when they’re sitting around drinking coffee? Not like ‘We need to catch the bad guys! We have to do this thing! We have to save the world again!’ It’s more like ‘Let’s just have a chat, let’s go for a walk.’ We can see those kinds of moments and be a little more intimate with the characters“explained Smulders. But what awaits us in Phase 5 of the MCU and then Phase 6? Naturally the actress kept her mouth shut but assured: “They are geniuses at Marvel, so they will create something I can’t talk about or that I don’t have the capacity to understand”.
