Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has been in a lot of close fights in his career, despite never being beaten in the ring. However, former United States president Donald Trump thought that there was one fight that he lost even though the judges declared him the victor.

Back in 2014, Mayweather was set to take Argentine boxer Marcos Maidana and battled him out to secure a close decision victory. Many felt that ‘Money’ had done enough to beat Maidana, but Trump had some other ideas about the fight.

The former president took to social media and expressed his anger towards the decision, claiming that Mayweather was getting beaten, although the commentators had them even on the scorecards after 10 rounds.
“Floyd Mayweather is being beaten up badly through ten rounds by Marcos Maidana. But announcers say it is even. Two rounds left,” he wrote.
He then followed this with another Tweet after the results were announced and demanded an investigation to be conducted to look into the matter. “No way! Judges say Mayweather won. An investigation should take place. Fix?” he wrote.
Moreover, in his final tweet about the match, he called the decision a disgrace to the sport. “The Mayweather decision is a disgrace!” he wrote.

Trump was certainly not happy with the decision and was not shy about expressing his anger over it. The fight was also a close one, with Mayweather edging toward victory using everything in his bag. However, a rematch between the two would take place in the same year in which ‘Money’ won rather convincingly.
Floyd Mayweather doesn’t think Donald Trump is his friend
In an interview with TMZ back in 2018, he was asked whether if Trump had a close relationship with him. However, he downplayed the situation and stated that he only knew him as an acquaintance rather than a friend. “Friends is a strong word. I know a lot of people, I knew Barack Obama, I know Donald Trump, I know a lot of people.” He said.

This interview came after Trump was elected into office and was under fire daily for his controversial takes. This might be why the former 5 division champion might have been shying away from speaking freely about him.
