US TSA Hiring Security Officers Next Week In Richmond

With passenger numbers forecast to keep increasing in 2025, pressure is mounting on all parts of commercial aviation to add resources and new technology to ensure the industry can support this growth. Self-serve check-in and bag drop have automated those phases, but security screening can still be a bottleneck at many airports, which may be why the TSA is looking for more security officers at two airports.
This Wednesday is the day to apply for a TSA role
Last Friday, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced it is conducting a local hiring event for security officer roles at two Virginia airports. The positions are available at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) and Richmond International Airport (RIC), and the hiring event will be held between 09:00 and 15:00 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Richmond.

The TSA is offering roles for full- and part-time TSA officers at both airports and the event will give interested individuals an opportunity to learn more about the position and what it is like to work as a TSA officer. That will be interesting, given that almost 100% of attendees will have already formed an opinion of airport security screening and will now be given an opportunity to make their own contribution to improving the process.
This event is even more attractive because attendees will have the opportunity to accelerate the TSA officer hiring process. On Wednesday, they can learn about employment with the Transportation Safety Administration, receive guidance on completing an application, and, if eligible, take a proctored test and interview.

The TSA hiring process is expedited this week
Completing the process on the same day makes for a very productive experience for people interested in a role with the TSA. The TSA issued separate announcements for the positions, although the only difference is a slight variation in the remuneration depending on which airport the officer is stationed, as follows:
TSA officer positions at Richmond International have a starting hourly salary of $22.40 per hour, and after two years on the job, TSA officers can earn $64,000 per year .
. Officers at Charlottesville-Albemarle have a starting hourly salary of $20.63 per hour, and after two years on the job, TSA officers can earn $60,000 per year.
