Inflight magazines have long been an integral part of inflight entertainment. But now, with the growth of digital products and virtually everyone having their own devices on planes, they are starting to become a thing of the past. None of the ‘Big Three’ American carriers have a magazine anymore.
United Airlines Hemispheres
United Airlines was the most recent airline to discontinue its inflight magazine, Hemispheres. In August, United announced that the September edition would be the final. The magazine, introduced in 1992, had been available for more than 30 years.
Moving towards a more digital and sustainable world, United made its magazine available digitally. The digital version of Hemispheres will be similar to the print edition. Currently, the Hemispheres portion of the website does not include full monthly editions, but rather, different articles.
