Potential Patriots Trade Target Doubles Down on Desire to Move

The possibility of the New England Patriots reuniting with Jakobi Meyers just got even more likely — at least if the receiver gets his way.
The Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and Meyers, who requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the season, still wants out of Sin City. In fact, Meyers doubled down on his desire for the Raiders to move him.
“Oh, for sure,” Meyers told ESPN’s Ryan McFadden when asked whether he still wants to be traded. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football.”

Just because Meyers still wants to be traded doesn’t mean Las Vegas will actually deal him. And it certainly doesn’t mean he’ll land in Foxboro. However, it does point to an increasingly awkward situation, one that the Raiders might look to resolve ahead of the deadline if the price is right.
If they do, the Patriots are viewed by many, including ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, as a potential suitor. Fowler listed the Patriots as a fit for Meyers in an Oct. 22 story outlining the top 25 trade candidates.
“There’s no consensus leaguewide on exactly what the Raiders will do,” Fowler wrote for ESPN.com. “Multiple execs told me they believe Las Vegas is open to a deal but is not actively shopping him. Another, however, believes the Raiders would prefer to wait until after the season to make any sweeping changes, due in part to the presence of Pete Carroll.”
Meyers, of course, began his career in New England. The Patriots signed the former quarterback as an undrafted free agent out of NC State, and he quickly became a dependable option in the passing game. Meyers’ best season in New England came in 2021 when he caught 83 of 126 targets for 866 yards.
