Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix is set to make his return to the field for a crucial Week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, but the team’s Thursday injury report spells bad news for his return.

Way ahead of the final injury report, the Falcons have already ruled out three players, two of whom are crucial to the success of Penix.
Per multiple reports, starting offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron, swing tackle Storm Norton, and defensive end Leonard Floyd have already been ruled out of Week 10.
Bergeron suffered an ankle injury in Week 9, and that has now led to his being ruled out. Norton is working his way back from IR, but it appears he was not ready to fully return. Floyd is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Bergeron being out will heavy impact the line, as he is the starting left guard. Kyle Hinton is expected to fill in.
Norton’s return was expected, but it appears he needs more time to heal.
The Falcons and the rest of the NFL are in mid-season form, and this is the time in which teams start to separate themselves as playoff contenders or pretenders. Atlanta was beginning to show signs of life, but three straight losses has placed the team in a very tough situation.
Indianapolis is also coming off a big loss, so the team is expected to return with some confidence to get back on track. They also landed Sauce Gardner in a major blockbuster trade, adding another huge element to their strong defense.
The Falcons need to start winning games, as more losses might all but guarantee they will not make the playoffs. Losing three players, especially two on the offensive line, will make that hard to accomplish.
