The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a tough 102-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night, as two shorthanded franchises clashed and the Hawks emerged victorious. While the Lakers did have Luka Doncic on the court, both Austin Reaves and LeBron James were nursing injuries. James is yet to make his season debut, while Reaves has missed the last three games with a groin injury.
The Lakers have started the season 7-3 through their opening 10 games, currently fourth in the Western Conference, half a game behind the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets. They will be looking to maximize every matchup that comes their way to ensure they remain in the hunt for a top seed, despite the absences that have affected the squad recently.
Reaves has been crucial for the Lakers so far this season, averaging 31.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 9.3 assists. The franchise will be looking forward to his return to the court and have officially upgraded the 27-year-old guard to probable for their Tuesday night clash against the Charlotte Hornets (3-6).
Reaves last played for the Lakers in their 120-130 win over the Miami Heat, putting up 26 points and 11 assists in the 10-point win. The Lakers went 2-1 in the three games Reaves missed and will hope to jump out to a winning start in his return to the lineup.
Reaves participated in the Lakers’ shootaround in Charlotte earlier in the morning before their 7 p.m. ET clash later today against the Hornets.
The Hornets are severely shorthanded as well, with LaMelo Ball (ankle), Josh Green (illness), Brandon Miller (shoulder), Drew Peterson (two-way), Tidjane Salaun (two-way) and Grant Williams (knee) ruled out for the game. Miles Bridges (back) is listed as questionable for the clash.
