Liverpool were busier than any other club in the world in the summer 2025 transfer window, signing two new fullbacks, two new strikers, and the amazing Florian Wirtz to point guard their attack.
So far, the Reds are actually worse off in the 2025/26 season, severely behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race and heading into the November international break with a 3-0 loss to former title rivals Manchester City.
While Liverpool fans don’t want to see the Reds spending exorbitantly again in the January transfer window, there’s a prevailing belief among supporters that the team still needs more pieces defensively in order to compete with the Gunners this year.
However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that he expects the Reds to be a lot quieter in the January transfer window this year, though they may become a little louder, so to speak, in the coming summer window:
“I think Liverpool is going to be very quiet in the January window. In the summer, it can be different.”
Liverpool may find it very hard to compete with their current center back lineup, and their defensive midfield depth behind Ryan Gravenberch is questionable, too. Anything can change in January, but for now, it does seem quite on the winter front at Anfield.
