MCU News: Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer, Daredevil: Born Again, And More
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Is Finally Released — Naturally, the biggest piece of MCU news this week was the release of the first trailer for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Revealing a new era for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, the trailer confirms major status quo changes for Spider-Man’s powers, fallout from Spider-Man: No Way Home, key allies like The Punisher and Hulk, and even returning MCU villains like Scorpion and The Hand. That said, there are still plenty of surprises to come, including Sadie Sink’s character and the movie’s ultimate villain.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Unique 24-Hour Release Strategy — 24 hours before the full trailer’s release, fans from all over the world were given 2 seconds of the Brand New Day trailer to release on their socials. Basically, a new 2-second clip was released every hour for 24 hours to build up the hype. Clearly, that strategy succeeded, considering Brand New Day’s trailer broke the record for the most first-day views (over 700 million).
Marvel’s Upcoming Punisher Special Runtime Revealed — Beyond his appearance this year in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Frank Castle’s Punisher will also be starring in his own MCU Special on Disney+. Now, this week has revealed that the Punisher Special will have a runtime of 60 minutes, the longest MCU Special yet. Werewolf by Night is 53 minutes long, while The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is 42 minutes.
Charlie Cox Reacts To Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer — Thanks to his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel the same day as the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer’s release, Charlie Cox was naturally asked about a potential appearance by Daredevil in the upcoming MCU movie following Daredevil: Born Again season 2 (which premieres next week):
Naturally, Charlie Cox denied his involvement in Brand New Day, while also confirming that even if he was in the new Spider-Man movie, he’d still say he wasn’t (bringing back memories of Andrew Garfield’s similar responses about his return as The Amazing Spider-Man ahead of 2021’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day).
RDJ & Chris Evans Reunite At The Oscars Before Doomsday (With Channing Tatum) — Last weekend, the Oscars saw Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans reuniting ahead of Avengers: Doomsday as award presenters, accompanied by The Avengers theme along with some fun Marvel banter. Likewise, part of their bit included Channing Tatum sitting in the audience, who will be returning as Gambit in Doomsday.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio Reveal Daredevil and Kingpin’s Thunderbolts Shame Rooms — In an interview with The Direct, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were both asked what Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s
