Gerry McNamara introduced as Syracuse basketball coach: Live stream, latest news

Syracuse, N.Y. — Gerry McNamara will be introduced as the Syracuse men’s basketball head coach during a nationally televised public event Monday afternoon on campus.
The program will have a pep-rally like feel as McNamara returns to his alma mater, where he helped lead the program to its only national championship in 2003 as a freshman and launched his decorated career.
Monday’s event will feature prepared remarks by McNamara and university officials.
The event will air on ACC Network and is also available to watch on the university’s live stream.
McNamara is among the most beloved athletes in Syracuse sports history. He had his No. 3 jersey raised to the rafters of the JMA Wireless Dome in 2023 around the 20th anniversary of the 2003 NCAA championship season.
After a record-setting college career ended in 2006, McNamara later joined the SU coaching staff under Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim. McNamara remained on staff for one season under former coach Adrian Autry before leaving to accept the head-coaching job at Siena in 2024.
He returns to Syracuse after two seasons at Siena, where he led the Saints back to the NCAA Tournament after the team won just four games prior to his arrival. Siena put a scare into No. 1 Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before fading in the final minutes.
Three days later, he was offered the head-coaching job at Syracuse.

McNamara’s parents, Gerard and Joyce, are in attendance, along with McNamara’s wife, Katie, and their four kids.
Former Syracuse basketball players Roosevelt Bouie and Matt Gorman are among those in attendance. Gorman was a member of the 2003 championship team with McNamara and roomed with GMac during their time on campus.
