His game-high 18 points helped Vermont knock off Pepperdine on the road during nonconference play on Dec. 6. Simon’s last appearance for Vermont was at Maine on Feb. 5.
Vermont coach John Becker reportedly had talks for Siena, BC openings
Vermont basketball head coach John Becker had conversations with Siena for its opening vacancy, according to reports from Albany, New York-based media outlets.
On April 1, Becker told WNYT NewsChannel 13 sports director Rodger Wyland that he was not offered the Siena gig. Mark Singelais of the Times Union first reported news through his sources that Becker had talks with Siena and that no offer was made. Later on April 1, Siena announced the hire of Marquette assistant coach Nevada Smith.
Last week, Becker was among the final candidates at BC, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. The job went to Luke Murray, a top assistant for UConn, which is playing in the Final Four on April 4.
Becker just completed his 15th season in charge of the Catamounts. He is the program’s all-time wins leader and has a 351-144 career record at UVM with six NCAA Tournament appearances.
