Vote for District 10 high school wrestler of the week

While the girls took a week off, District 10 high school boys wrestlers stayed busy Feb. 20-21.
District 10 Class 2A and District 9/10 Class 3A championship tournaments ended many athletes’ seasons. Others extended their campaign by another week.
This week’s D-10 high school boys wrestler of the week poll features 10 of the weekend’s top performances. Read information on each nominee then vote in the poll below.
Voting ends Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.
Previous boys’ winners include Kael Kimmy of North East, Landen Hassel of Sharpsville, Mario Panighetti of Cathedral Prep, Chase Karenbauer of Grove City, Ethan Springer of Sharpsville, Drew Gilarno of Commodore Perry, Hudson Hohman of Grove City, Waylon Waite of Reynolds and Rocky Kowle of North East. Previous girls’ winners include Sydney Heider of Reynolds, Charli Rea of Northwestern, Cydney Rea of Northwestern, Davaya Truman of Erie High, Zahra Al-Zamly of Fort LeBoeuf, Deonna Chatfield of Erie High, Reagan Bees of Reynolds and Avery Brumagin of Seneca.
Nominees
Kamdyn Borrero, Cathedral Prep: His 139-pound title helped Prep win the District 10 Class 2A tournament. Won his finals match by 8-4 decision.
Bryson Galloway, North East: His standout D-10 Class 2A tournament included a semifinal win over a former state medalist, a finals victory over a wrestler who beat him six days prior, and his 100th career victory in the quarterfinals.
Rudy Gentile, Greenville: Backed up last week’s 4-3 victory in the Section 2 finals with a 17-2 technical fall against the same opponent to win D-10 Class 2A at 145 pounds.
Tom Gunther, Harbor Creek: His 189-pound championship led the Huskies to the team title at the District 9/10 Class 3A sub-regional tournament.
Kameron McFarland, McDowell: Won the 114-pound title at the D-9/10 Class 3A meet with a technical fall in the semifinals and a pin in the final.
Ryder Say, Meadville: Pinned his way through the 160-pound bracket at the D-9/10 Class 3A championships.
Elijah Scriven, Hickory: He breezed through the Class 2A bracket at 121 pounds, including a technical fall in the finals against a returning state medalist.
Colton Tupper, Reynolds: Avenged last year’s championship loss in the D-10 Class 2A semifinals before winning the 215-pound title with a 5-1 decision.
Zac Turberville, Slippery Rock: Won his first D-10 Class 2A title at 160 pounds, beating his finals opponent by 4-0 decision after two wins by technical fall.
Van Ward, Union City: Captured the 107-pound title in Class 2A, logging a pin and a technical fall before a win by decision in the finals.
