When the statistic came out this week that more than half of Americans still can’t name a famous Asian American, we were perplexed. Has the rest of the country never heard of Mindy Kaling, Yo-Yo Ma, Tedy Bruschi, or Mayor Michelle Wu?
When it comes to local businesses owned by Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) and Asians, at least we know our readers could name their favorites, no problem. In 2022, readers shared more than 50 businesses and organizations in a guide to AANHPI- and Asian-owned businesses in Greater Boston.
Readers named Yume Wo Katare ramen shop in Cambridge, the Asian American Civic Association in Chinatown, and many other places that topped their list. During this AANHPI Heritage Month, we want to update the guide for 2024.
