President Donald Trump’s approval rating is underwater with voters, with a net job approval firmly in the negative.
The latest poll from the Economist and You Gov ,shows 39% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of how Trump is handling his job as president, while 56% disapprove, for a net job approval of -16. While low, it’s still above other recent polls where the president had net approval ratings as low as -19 for at several points since October 2025.
Trump’s highest net approval rating – positive 6 – was posted just after he started his second term in January 2025.

Sixty-percent of those polled think the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction; 32% think it is generally headed in the right direction.
The YouGov/Economic poll the was conducted Feb. 13-16 among 1,682 respondents with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
Epstein allegations dragging down the president
One of the issues dragging down Trump’s approval ratings appears to be his handling of the investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
When asked if they approved or disapproved of the way Trump is handling the Epstein investigation – including allegations the president and Epstein were close associates – 53% said Trump was trying to cover up crimes involved with the late financier. Twenty-nine percent said the president wasn’t trying to cover up the crimes.

Ninety-one percent of Democrats, 58% of independents and 13% of Republicans said Trump is trying to cover up Epstein’s crimescover-up. Half of those polled think Trump was involved in Epstein’s crimes, 30% think he was not. Again, feelings on the matter fell along partisan lines – 86% of Democrats, 53% of independents and 13% of Republicans believe Trump was involved in criminal activities.
The figures related to a cover-up have remained fairly consistent since polling on the issue started in November 2025, with anywhere between 48% and 52% of Americans saying Trump had covered up Epstein’s crimes.
