The No. 2 seed Connecticut Huskies are chasing their third national championship in a four-year span under head coach Dan Hurley. Before they can make another deep run, however, they’ll need to get past the No. 3 seed Michigan State Spartans to keep those hopes alive.
Just over 24 hours before tipoff, UConn received some tough news on the coaching front. Hurley’s lead assistant, Luke Murray — the son of legendary actor Bill Murray — is departing for the Boston College head coaching vacancy, though he is expected to remain with the team for the rest of the tournament.

Murray has been instrumental in shaping UConn’s offense and has established himself as one of the top offensive tacticians in college basketball. He has coached on Hurley’s staff at three different programs and brings a strong resume as an assistant.
He previously worked under Hurley at Wagner and Rhode Island, while also holding assistant roles at Xavier, Louisville, and Towson.
While his departure is certainly a loss for UConn, it’s long overdue that Murray gets his opportunity to lead a program. He now makes the jump from the Big East to the ACC, taking over a Boston College team in need of a resurgence.
Boston College hasn’t reached the NCAA Tournament since 2009 under former head coach Al Skinner. This past season, the Eagles finished 11–20 overall and 4–14 in ACC play.
